Stop Quietly Submitting; It’s Time To Fight!

Take a decisive stand against him and resist his every attack with strong, vigorous faith. 1 Peter 5:9 (TPT)

When we know God’s will for us, it becomes easier to recognize what we should be accepting or resisting in our lives.

Unfortunately, legalistic religion has taught us to submit to wrong things. For example, I’ve heard Christians say, “I’m always sick,” or “We’re constantly broke. It’s how it always is.” But with that attitude, we begin to submit to sickness, poverty or distanced relationships with our spouses. These are things we should be resisting, not submitting to.

First John 3:8 says Jesus destroyed the works of Satan. So, when we as believers decide to resist something that’s against God’s will, all the power of God within us goes to work to resist it. But if we choose to submit to the wrong things (even though the power of God won’t submit to it with us) it’s like we’re shutting off the resistance within to fight it.

You see, when we resist something, it doesn’t mean we will never again experience sickness or failure or go through a crisis. It just means that we stop submitting to it. For example, there’s a big difference between failing at something and declaring, “I’m a failure.” And there’s a difference between receiving a bad diagnosis and saying, “It’s mine. I guess it’s just my lot in life.” When we do this, we’re submitting to the enemy’s lies.

So, we resist the enemy’s lies and deceit. How? By standing in faith on God’s Word, boldly declaring all the freedom and victory that’s ours through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross.

Learn God’s Word and His promises for you, and you’ll learn to recognize and resist anything that is contrary to His will!
