And I asked the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever. John 14:16 (AMPC)
Although God’s presence is available to us, sometimes it’s like an unopened gift left under the tree.
According to John 14:16, God provides seven different gifts for you to unwrap and enjoy through your relationship with Holy Spirit. Over the next two days as we unwrap each one, meditate on what every gift means to you.
1. Comfort. We all go through painful times on this earth. Being a Christian does not make you exempt. However, Holy Spirit provides great comfort when we are hurting. There have been many times when I have experienced this incredible comfort—times when it made no sense to have peace. His comfort can be real and tangible even in times of great loss and hardship.
2. Counsel. Life gets pretty confusing sometimes. In raising children, one expert says discipline while the other says don’t. Who do we listen to? Although it is important to seek out knowledge and wisdom, Holy Spirit is the ultimate counselor. He shows you the right thing to do when you ask.
3. Help. Have you ever moved a couch on your own? It’s not easy. We all need help sometimes. Although people can help you with many things, nothing compares to the supernatural help of the Holy Spirit. He can help you overcome anything that comes your way.
Do you think to look to Holy Spirit for comfort, counsel and help? This Christmas, don’t leave God’s gifts to you unwrapped.
