For My yoke is wholesome (useful, good—not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, and pleasant), and My burden is light and easy to be borne. Matthew 11:30 (AMPC)
In our verse today, Jesus said that the life He has prepared for you is easy and light. This verse is in direct conflict with many people’s beliefs about the Christian life. They think that serving God requires you to give up everything you enjoy. Their idea of serving Jesus seems more like a prison sentence than the abundant life He promised us.
Of course, we will still go through difficult times in life and we need to give up our selfish desires, but serving Jesus isn’t a prison sentence. He came that we might have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows) (John 10:10, AMPC). That doesn’t sound like prison to me!
If you constantly struggle, it may be because you have not yet learned how to put God’s Word to work to create your future. Instead, you are doing things the way you want or the way you’ve been taught without questioning their effectiveness.
You may be surprised to discover that you have a lot more influence over your future than you may have originally thought. God has promised you great things, but you need to do your part. You need to work together with God to determine your future.
God has an awesome plan for your life, and walking it out is not difficult. Align your beliefs with His. Meditate on and speak His promises over your life and they will become a part of you.
