Everyday Prayer

Leon FontaineDevoted

Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know. Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV)

A while ago I posted a survey on Facebook asking people what topic they would like to see highlighted in Devoted at the beginning of this month. The topic that had the most votes was prayer, so I’m excited to get into a series on this incredibly important topic with you!

Through this series, I hope to help you look at prayer differently. You see, prayer isn’t just asking God to do things for you. That may be one part, but during your prayer time, you also build your relationship with God and begin to absorb His strength, peace, courage and love. You help to change what you believe, and therefore what you experience in life. And you make tremendous power available to you and those you pray for (James 5:16).

In this quiet time with God, you can receive just the right download you need from Him. You absorb His power to deal with your situation. You can talk to God when you are at work, in traffic and doing chores around the house. You can ask for His input on decisions you need to make. When you make a habit of praying often throughout your day, your heart begins to fill with His joy, courage and peace.

This week, try making prayer a more natural part of every day. Ask Him to teach you what you need to know, and let Him radiate His ability into your life so you can impact your world out of His overflow of love and strength.
