We gladly suffer, because we know that suffering helps us to endure. And endurance builds character, which gives us a hope that will never disappoint us. All of this happens because God has given us the Holy Spirit, who fills our hearts with his love. Romans 5:3–5 (CEV)
When it comes to your destiny, you need to develop character. Paul taught in Romans 5 that character is developed as we go through hard times and persevere. He wasn’t talking about enduring sickness or poverty, but other difficulties we face in life that we simply have to get through, with God’s help.
Actually, sometimes we need to pass tests in life. Life has a way of testing our capacity and our character. Each time you pass a test and prove that your character has grown, you will naturally gravitate towards something more challenging that will take you one step farther in your journey. However, you will re-take every test in life until you pass. When you don’t pass a test, you stay put and will likely repeat the same test over and over until you succeed. For example, if you struggle with temptation or an addiction, you won’t achieve your destiny until you overcome the stronghold. In life, you will continue to come up against the same problems until you break free.
Whatever you are experiencing right now, learn and grow from it. And most importantly, stay passionate for God. Put your trust in Him and don’t let the cares of the world steal your focus from your destiny. Make the decision to serve God no matter what your day holds, and in doing so, you will rise up and achieve the amazing destiny He has in store for you.
