There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life—fear of death, fear of judgment—is one not yet fully formed in love. 1 John 4:17–18 (MSG)
We all have a picture for the future, whether we realize it or not. If you worry about the future, love can paint a beautiful picture over an old, scary one. Holy Spirit loves to lead you to the truth of God’s love for you, helping you find promises that speak the opposite of what you’re dealing with.
If you are worried about your health, read Psalm 91:16 (AMPC), With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation. As you meditate on it, Holy Spirit will help you to picture what that long life would look like.
Your picture may include seeing your grandchildren take their first steps and watching them grow up. You might see yourself laughing with your spouse into old age, attending your grandkids’ weddings and bouncing great- grandkids on your knee. Love paints a new picture and the picture that evoked fear diminishes.
What are you picturing? Fear pictures your kids doing drugs and sleeping around. Love pictures their hands raised in worship, fulfilling their call. Fear pictures you sick, lethargic and in constant pain. Love pictures you active, serving and enjoying life. Fear pictures you depressed and anxious, with no control over emotions. Love pictures you laughing and helping others. Fear pictures more month than money. Love pictures more money than month!
Practise visualizing the future God wants for you. You’re not forcing Him into anything. He IS love and He has already promised these things to you!
