Their plan was to turn west into Asia province, but the Holy Spirit blocked that route. So they went to Mysia and tried to go north to Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus wouldn’t let them go there either. Acts 16:6-8 (MSG)
We often miss opportunities to follow Holy Spirit’s guidance because it looks like work, but it is always worth it! The feeling you get from working with Holy Spirit is unparalleled.
Years ago I was driving my car when I noticed a woman and her son walking down the street. They stood out to me for some reason so I prayed a quick prayer for them. The next day I saw them again on a different street so I prayed again. Incredibly, this happened seven times!
A few weeks later, I was amazed when she and her son walked into our church. I later discovered that she was being abused by her husband and our church was able to help.
Holy Spirit always knows who, what, when and why. We sometimes think that letting Him lead will be a great burden, but it’s really not! He simply makes us effective.
In Acts 16:6-8, Paul was ready to move on to another city. He made a plan but sensed Holy Spirit advising him against it. He picked another direction but again the response was no. Paul could have become frustrated but he trusted Holy Spirit and went on to Europe. In the Dark Ages, it was the churches in Europe who kept the Gospel alive and it was all because Paul had listened to Holy Spirit hundreds of years before. Holy Spirit knew where Paul needed to go.
He also knows where you need to go. Ask Him today and follow His advice!
