Get Spiritually Strong!

Leon FontaineDevoted

In the day when I called, You answered me; and You strengthened me with strength (might and inflexibility to temptation) in my inner self. Psalm 138:3 (AMPC)

When you make time with God a part of your daily routine, you begin to experience a joy that transcends circumstances. Without this devotion, you set yourself up for failure. It’s easy to become tempted.

People who end up giving into temptation didn’t get there overnight. Like old underwear, it creeps up on you slowly. Over time, you become increasingly controlled by what tempts you as you fall for the lie that you don’t have the power to change it.

Inside you is the power of the Creator of the universe. Stop relying on willpower alone and feed your spirit by spending time in God’s Word and in His presence. As you spend time thanking God for His power and goodness in your life, you become infused with power to overcome anything that tempts you. Just listen to the words of David in Psalm 138:1-3(MSG):

Thank you! Everything in me says ‘Thank you!’ Angels listen as I sing my thanks. I kneel in worship facing your holy temple and say it again: ‘Thank you!’ Thank you for your love, thank you for your faithfulness; Most holy is your name, most holy is your Word. The moment I called out, you stepped in; you made my life large with strength.

Never get too busy for devotions. As you spend time in His Word, your fleshly desires will starve and become weaker. Before long, you will be able to look back and notice the change, finding that you have learned to meet every desire you have God’s way.
