But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is…joy. Galatians 5:22 (AMPC)
We all want to enjoy life; there is nothing wrong that. However, many assume that the only way to enjoy life is to eliminate all problems. It’s not true. As long as you believe that, you won’t know the joy spoken of in Galatians 5:22.
When you tie your joy to problems, it causes you to focus on problems. After all, you believe that the only way to have joy is if you look for problems and find none there. This means you are always looking for problems…and you will always find them! Your joy becomes future focused. You will only be happy when this problem or that one is solved.
This is a huge issue because as soon as one problem is solved, another takes its place. That’s life! But this doesn’t mean that you can’t have joy. Joy is not something you accomplish by solving problems. It has nothing to do with how good you are or how well you perform. It’s something Holy Spirit accomplishes deep within you.
Refuse to allow problems to steal your joy. And if someone does something that makes you upset, you don’t have to hand them control over your emotions. You can maintain your joy and peace despite it all.
If you find this difficult to do, you may need to spend more time with your Father God. As you worship Him and spend time in the Word, Holy Spirit will increasingly improve your ability to weather every storm with His joy and complete peace.
