Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23 (NKJV)
Incorrect beliefs limit God. They also allow things into your life that shouldn’t be there. For example, if you are not convinced that you deserve to be treated with respect, you will tolerate abusive behaviour. God may have a fantastic relationship lined up for you but you will miss it if you do not feel worthy.
Without realizing it, you may have placed boundaries on God.
There is a special part of you where your spirit and soul connect called your heart. Heart isn’t just a deeper level of thinking. It controls your whole life. Proverbs 4:23 teaches us to guard it carefully, “For it determines the course of your life.” (NLT) Jesus says, “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart.” (Luke 6:45)
Your heart may control your life but you control what is allowed into your heart. How?
It’s really quite simple. There are three doors to your heart: your eyes, ears and mouth. When you control what you say, hear and look at, you control what goes into your heart.
Fill your eyes and ears with God’s Word, speaking it as well, and you will fill your heart with God—and it will pour all kinds of good things into your life!
