I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain. Galatians 2:21 (NKJV)
Believers often mistakenly weave Old Testament law and New Testament grace together. They think they need to qualify themselves for Heaven somehow or that they need to earn God’s promises.
Before Jesus died for the sin of mankind, it was up to us to earn our right standing with God. Because perfection is humanly impossible, God allowed His people to transfer their sin onto a lamb, which then had to be sacrificed to pay the penalty for their disobedience.
Grace is an entirely different story.
When you decide to trust in Christ, He becomes the ultimate lamb who takes on all of your sin: past, present and future. According to Romans 10:9, when you accept what Jesus has done for you and you confess “‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead,” (NKJV) He takes any penalty you deserve.
Grace is all about what Jesus has done, not what you have done or have failed to do. When you try to earn your acceptance, Galatians 2:21 says that you frustrate the grace of God. You actually render what Jesus did on the cross null and void. After all, what was the point of Jesus’ sacrifice if you still need to earn your salvation?
Jesus died for ALL of your sins; you qualify for ALL of God’s blessings.
Do you believe it?
