Don’t Let Your Heart Be Troubled

Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.] John 14:27 (AMP)

How many of us say this without thinking? “I’m so stressed!” Society teaches us that stress, anxiety and fear are normal. But why have we set such a low standard for us as believers? We’re saved in order to live a life that’s different, full of freedom—and that includes our emotions.

Of course, we all face stressors at times, but living in a state of uneasiness shouldn’t be your norm. You were created to be an overcomer!

Jesus said He was giving us His peace. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. He wouldn’t tell you to do something you didn’t have the ability to do! You can actually change how you feel, and Holy Spirit will help you.

Choose to not let your heart be troubled. Don’t let envy, greed, anger, jealousy or worry set in. All of these emotions mess with your head and your heart. You were never designed to stay stuck in these emotions for hours—never mind days, weeks, months or your entire life. Yet so many of us do.

We need to understand the power of God’s Word. Every time you’re tempted to give in to negative emotions, train your mind to go back to the Word. Jesus’ perfect peace will calm you in every circumstance.

Today, you can say, “I won’t let my heart be troubled. I won’t be afraid. God’s peace gives me the courage and strength I need to face any challenge!”
