You Are Enough

Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say….” Genesis 3:1 (ESV)

One of the most destructive tactics used by the enemy is posing little questions like, “Are you sure you’re enough?”

Satan attempts to use faith-eroding questions like these to stop us from believing we can do more, be greater or go further in life. Why? Because he wants to keep us plateaued and small. If he can cause us to question our worth and identity, he can derail us from our true

God-given potential. This reminds me of a TV program I watched where a woman was consulting a plastic surgeon about a small imperfection on her face. After discussing the issue, she then asked, “Is there any other work you think I need?” The doctor simply posed these questions back to her: “Well, have you thought about…?” and “Not sure when you’ll want to deal with those crows feet, but…?” By the time he was done, she was convinced she had ten problems instead of one!

You see, outright attacks are often recognized and deflected, but these subtle questions can lead us to draw faulty conclusions. A question has the ability to bypass a belief system if we’re not careful, and lies can begin to take root in our heart.

That’s what Satan did to Eve in the Garden of Eden. He posed questions that caused her to doubt what God had said, which ultimately resulted in her questioning her trust and identity in Him. When God created Eve, she was enough… yet Satan caused her to question whether what God said was true. His tactics remain the same today. Don’t listen to the enemy’s lies. In Jesus, you are more than enough!
