Claim The Solution

Leon FontaineDevoted

His divine power has given us everything we need to experience life and to reflect God’s true nature through the knowledge of the One who called us by His glory and virtue. Through these things, we have received God’s great and valuable promises, so we might escape the corruption of worldly desires and share in the divine nature. 2 Peter 1:3–4 (VOICE)

Today’s verse holds a powerful truth. It says that God has given us everything we need, and that as we grow in our knowledge of Him, we walk out His promises.

We’ve been on a series about the power of claiming God’s promises. When we first start doing this, we can be so focused on our problems that we go about it negatively. Instead of claiming peace, we ask God to take away our fear. Instead of claiming health, we ask Him to remove our sickness.

This might seem like semantics, but claiming the solution (rather than just the removal of the problem) is an important shift in focus.

If you’re facing something difficult claim the opposite. For example, if you’re being treated unfairly, instead of praying for that situation to stop, claim Psalm 5:12, which says that God surrounds you with His favour as a shield. Also claim James 1:5, which promises that if you ask God for wisdom, He will give it to you.

If you’ve been going through a tough time financially, instead of asking to have your debt removed, thank God for His abundant blessings. He’s promised you the power to gain wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18), and that “in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8).

What do you want more of in your life? Keep meditating and claim those promises, because they are yours, in Jesus’ name!
