The Power To Change The Future

But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Romans 8:11 (NKJV)

When we focus on the negative, we might think we’re just being realistic, but there are consequences. Instead, we need to let our words be filled with hope, and then we will bring about the change we want.

I often compare our words to a thermostat. Many of us use words like they are a thermometer, just stating the temperature of the room. But our words were designed to influence the future, not just report on the present. Just as we set a thermostat to set the temperature we want the room to be, we can “set” our words to the future we want to have. We can set our words on God’s promises, and those words go to work on our hearts to create that future.

This doesn’t mean you deny the problem. If you’ve been told you have cancer, for example, you don’t have to deny the diagnosis to stay positive. You could say, “The tests show cancer, but I’m confident that it’s on its way out!” It also doesn’t mean you ignore other problem solving methods. You can claim God’s promises while following the doctor’s and/or natural health practitioner’s advice.

In fact, even if you’re not facing a health problem right now, today’s verse is a great one to claim. Let’s speak it over our lives right now: “The same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead lives in me. No problem is too big for Him to overcome—not even death—and He’s given me health, energy, peace and life!”
