From Mouth To Heart To Reality

Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. Mark 11:24 (NKJV)

Over the past few days, we’ve been discussing how God’s promises can impact the dreams and visions in our hearts, and how those dreams can then shape our future. But before we can benefit from this powerful process, we need to understand the relationship between the heart and the mouth.

In our culture today, words can sometimes seem to hold little weight, but the reality is our words are powerful.

The ultimate example of this truth is found in Romans 10:10. If we believe in our hearts that Jesus came to save us, and we say with our mouths that we are making Him our Lord and Saviour, we set into motion the most profound miracle on the planet—the miracle of salvation. In that moment, we undergo a nature change, become part of God’s family and change where we will spend eternity. And it’s all because we believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths!

This is the very same process that takes place to receive any one of God’s promises. The more we claim God’s promises, the more we believe in our hearts that they are ours to have. Then, as Jesus taught in Mark 11:24, we begin to have what we say.

Start claiming His promises today! You could pray something like this: “Father, thank you for guiding me in the paths I should take every day (Psalm 23:3). Thank you that no weapon formed against me will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and that angels surround me and my family to protect us (Psalm 34:7). You are so good!”
