For the kingdom of God is not based on talk but on power. 1 Corinthians 4:20 (AMP)
Have you ever gone through a stressful situation you were praying about, only to feel like God wasn’t responding? The truth is, sometimes the only way to get past a stressful time like this is to keep going through it.
Now, let me be clear. I’m not talking about tragedy or sickness here. I’m talking about times when we feel challenged, when we’re under pressure because we’re trying something new or we’ve reached a level of success and aren’t sure how to handle some of the responsibilities that come with it. In times like this, rescuing isn’t what we need.
Think of it like parenting. If parents shelter their kids from every challenge, their kids won’t grow. Kids need to do their own homework and face uncomfortable situations as they learn to stand up for themselves. Through it all, however, the child’s relationship with mom and dad should be a safe place to land. Mom and dad comfort and coach them through life’s issues, cheering them on and equipping them with skills as well as stepping in to solve the issues that are too tough. God is that kind of Father.
God doesn’t rescue us from our responsibilities, just as a good parent doesn’t take away every challenge from their child. We need to be challenged to grow.
The next time you feel under pressure, remember that your Father God is your safe place to land, but also that He’s given you power. You can stand strong and do what’s right. Ask for His wisdom and He will guide you! You can be calm when everything seems out of control and you can get through every situation with His peace.
