For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11:30 (NKJV)
Jesus said that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. If that’s true, why do we as believers still face problems in life?
Taking a closer look at today’s verse, Jesus never said that a life of following Him would be problem-free. Actually, when He said that His yoke is easy and His burden is light, He didn’t say, “You’ll never have to carry a yoke. No burdens for you!” In other words, He let us know that we will have trouble, but when we carry it with Him, it will be easy and light.
It’s definitely not that God puts things like sickness or tragedy on us. Those aren’t the types of problems I’m talking about. We can’t blame God for all of the negative stuff life throws our way. And, just because there’s a problem in your life doesn’t mean God is punishing you for committing some sort of sin. It also doesn’t mean that you lack faith or that something is wrong with you. This type of thinking causes people to run from God because they feel guilty when they are in need instead of running to Him for help.
The truth is, God’s plans for us are good, according to Jeremiah 29:11. And in 2 Chronicles 20:17, God gave Israel a powerful promise. His message was, “Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow and the Lord will be with you.”
That very same promise applies to you today!
No matter what you’re facing, it’s time to believe for the impossible. God is good, and when you face challenges with Him, He makes the impossible possible.
