For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the
word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. Hebrews 4:2 (NKJV)
To benefit from God’s Word, you must mix faith with what you hear.
If you want to bake a cake, you start by putting flour, butter, sugar, milk, eggs and a few other ingredients in a bowl. If you don’t mix them together, it’s not going to become a cake. The same is true for the Word. We need to mix our faith with the Word for it to produce results.
The great thing about God’s Word is that as you meditate on it and
choose to believe it, it will produce the faith you need. You don’t have to worry about drumming up faith. It just starts with a choice. Read a promise; choose to believe it. Read what the Bible says about you as a new creation in Christ and choose to accept it as the truth.
When you approach God’s Word this way, it changes the way you think. It fills up your heart with faith and begins to make you look differently at your relationships, finances, health, identity, God and everything else in this world. Faith rises up on the inside of you the more you feed on the Word, which is why the Word is so powerful.
Faith and God’s Word are the perfect mix. Just keep meditating on the Word, asking Holy Spirit to reveal truth to you. Decide to claim those promises for yourself and then act on those truths. You’ll begin to see changes in your life!
