Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” Isaiah 30:21
We’ve been on a series talking about the trials of life, but with today being Father’s Day, I’d like to switch gears to share seven decisions I’ve made in my life. As a father of five, a husband and a leader, I’ve found these seven indispensable in helping to guide my life.
1.The buck stops with me. It’s easy to point fingers, but the only way to bring change is to own when things go wrong.
2.I’m going after wisdom. Since I don’t know what the future holds, I need to pursue wisdom in every area to be prepared.
3.I’m a person of action. Even if everyone else is still thinking about it, I’m going to go do it. Adventure in life isn’t found in the expertise of knowing; adventure is found in doing!
4.I’m decisive. I’m not going to waver. Of course I’m open to new data, but I’m not going to second-guess every decision.
5.Today, I choose to be happy. The joy of the Lord is my strength, and it’s something I choose every day. I can bring gratitude and joy with me wherever I go.
6.I have a forgiving spirit. Sometimes it takes time, but the choice is mine to forgive. I can choose to walk free.
7.I’m going to persist. I’m going to carry on even if everyone else gives up. The darkest hour is just before the breakthrough, so I’m going to stay in faith.
I’m not saying that I carry out these decisions perfectly, but I’ve found
them invaluable in my life. Today, I hope they inspire you too.
