He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” Mark 4:40
You can face the storms of life without fear, anxiety or negative confession.
When we as believers forget what we have in Christ, we tend to be overcome by negativity when we face trouble. When problems arise, we forget that we have Jesus as our solid rock to stand on, God’s promises to trust in and Holy Spirit’s strength to rely on. We stop leaning into the fact that God works all things together for our good (Romans 8:28) and doesn’t cause hurtful things to happen to us. And because we forget, we’re full of fear, anxiety and hopelessness.
When we forget Christ, we also tend to grieve ahead of time. It’s natural to grieve when we experience a loss, but if we begin to grieve before the loss is even sure to happen, we’re not in faith. We’re allowing ourselves to give in to fear and worry, but we don’t have to live this way! We need to remember that Jesus empowers us to have faith and he’s given us all we need to make it through the storms of life…and to come out victorious on the other side!
You don’t have to live a life of fear and anxiety. People around you might become negative and full of fear when a storm begins to blow, but you’re empowered to be like Jesus when he faced a storm on the sea in Mark 4. He stayed cool and he commanded the storm to be still. You walk in that same authority!
As a believer, you are more than an overcomer. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. You can walk in the rest he provides.
