Joy Skills: Joy Comes with the Morning

The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows). John 10:10 (AMP)

If you’re breathing, you have life, but life is not just about being alive. I’ve often heard it said that life is not about how many breaths you take, but how many moments take your breath away.

If you’re going through a tough time, you’re not alone. Life will bring seasons of pain and struggle, but you need to realize something very important. If you feel like anything in your life is being stolen or destroyed—your joy, peace, family, business, health—it’s not God’s doing. According to our verse today, Satan is the author of all of that pain and heartache. Jesus came that we might have and enjoy life, have it in abundance, to the full, until it overflows!

Over the past few days we’ve covered skills you can develop to build a life of joy. Although there are ways you can increase joy, realize that you will still have problems and trouble in this world. Don’t allow yourself to feel condemned. If you’re going through a hard time, it’s not because you’ve failed somehow. Stay solution-minded. See a doctor if you’re struggling with depression. Seek out natural help. Exercise and reach out to friends. Build the joy skills we’ve been discussing but don’t be afraid to get help from others too.

Jesus wants you to be able to enjoy your life, but sometimes this is a process. Keep at it and don’t lose hope as you stand on God’s promises. “Weeping may last through the night,” but joy is on its way; “joy comes with the morning.” (Psalm 30:5, NLT).
